Bret Hart has a remarkable record on pay-per-views, but the two-time WWE Hall of Famer has suffered some singles losses along the way.

Arguably, Bret Hart is the greatest technical wrestler of all time. The Hitman carved out a successful wrestling career for himself with tons of memorable moments. Hart's WWE career was magnificent as he won the WWE Championship five times, the Intercontinental Championship twice, and the WWE Tag Team Championship twice with his brother-in-law Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. Once Bret moved away from the tag team division, he transitioned into singles competition seamlessly.

Hart has been involved in a plethora of instant classics over the years on pay-per-views in WWE and WCW. Whilst, Hart has generally triumphed in big matches, he's also tasted defeat. Nonetheless, some of his losses were surprising, but to get a win over the Hitman in one-on-one competition is a phenomenal achievement.

For the second year in succession, Bret Hart was involved in an Intercontinental Championship match at SummerSlam. The Hitman collided with his brother-in-law The British Bulldog at SummerSlam 1992 and it was an epic encounter.

The atmosphere was electric with Bulldog having the hometown crowd behind him at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Ultimately, Bulldog captured the Intercontinental Championship and he handed Bret his first loss in a singles pay-per-view match.

Bret Hart main evented WrestleMania for the first time at WrestleMania 9, and he walked in as the reigning WWE Champion. The Hitman put his championship on the line against Yokozuna, who won the 1993 Royal Rumble match.

This was an underwhelming WWE Championship match considering that Yokozuna wilted in the contest. Moreover, the bout was slow but Mr. Fuji blinded Hart by throwing salt in his eyes which allowed Yokozuna to win the WWE Championship for the first time.

Before Bret Hart could think about his WWE Championship match in the main event at WrestleMania 10, the Hitman collided with his younger brother Owen in the curtain-raiser. Unquestionably, this is the greatest opening match in the history of WrestleMania.

This was a technical masterclass, and the story was relatable with two brothers going at it. Nevertheless, the Rocket outsmarted his older brother with a victory roll to pick up a monumental win.

Diesel was looking to become a double champion as he challenged Bret Hart for the WWE Championship at King of the Ring 1994. Big Daddy Cool was still green, but Hart showcased his greatness by carrying Diesel in a match of this magnitude.

This was a back and forth match, but the result protected both men. Jim Neidhart assaulted his brother-in-law, and Diesel was triumphant albeit by disqualification which meant that Bret would retain the WWE Championship.

Bret Hart and Bob Backlund collided over the WWE Championship at Survivor Series 1994. This was a submissions match, and it was one of the most shocking results in the history of Survivor Series.

The Hitman was eight months strong into his WWE Championship reign but that came to a crashing halt at the hands of Backlund. Backlund locked in the crossface chicken wing which seemed like an eternity, but the towel was thrown in, and Backlund became a two-time WWE Champion.

Jerry "The King" Lawler is one of two men to beat Bret Hart in two singles matches on a pay-per-view, and he was the first to achieve this feat. At SummerSlam 1993, the Hitman pulled double duty but he lost his match to Lawler by disqualification as he refused to break up the Sharpshooter.

Their feud resumed in 1995, and they were in action at the inaugural In Your House. With outside interference from Hakushi, Lawler picked up another win over the Hitman.

Bret Hart and The Undertaker was a marquee WWE Championship match that closed out the 1996 Royal Rumble. Both were babyfaces, and Undertaker wore a Phantom of the Opera-like mask. This match could have been better, but it was average.

The Hitman unmasked the Deadman and Undertaker was close to regaining the WWE Championship as he nailed Bret with the Tombstone. Diesel interfered, and he cost Undertaker the gold with Bret retaining albeit by losing by disqualification.

Sycho Sid beat Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series 1996, and at the following pay-per-view, he was looking to take down Bret Hart in his first WWE Title defense. Sid and Bret had good chemistry together, and it was a watchable match.

Michaels was on commentary duties as he would face the champion at the 1997 Royal Rumble. Nonetheless, Sid prevailed with a powerbomb to retain his WWE Championship.

The trilogy between Bret Hart and Steve Austin was one of the best in WWE history. Hart won their first two meetings, and their match at In Your House: Revenge of the 'Taker would see the winner face The Undertaker for the WWE Championship.

It was the weakest of their trio of matches, but it was still a good match between the pair. However, Austin earned his first win over Hart but it was by disqualification as The British Bulldog nailed the Texas Rattlesnake with a steel chair in the back.

Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels' battles over the WWE Championship were full of intensity and the pair had a personal disdain for each other. At WrestleMania 12, HBK kicked Bret's teeth down his throat with Sweet Chin Music in overtime to kickstart his first WWE Championship reign.

They battled once more at the 1997 Survivor Series with Michaels challenging Bret once again for the WWE Championship. It is best remembered for the Montreal Screwjob with Michaels beating Bret for his third WWE Championship reign.

Bret Hart's run in WCW wasn't the best, but he engaged in some excellent battles at Booker T. However, at Bash at the Beach 1998, Booker defended the WCW World Television Championship with the Hitman looking to end Booker's run with the championship.

Their match was back and forth, and Hart applied a few submission holds. Nevertheless, Booker retained his championship by DQ as Bret got himself intentionally disqualified as he nailed Booker with a chair shot.

Bret Hart and DDP closed out World War 3 in November 1998 with the WCW United States Championship on the line. This was a remarkable wrestling match, and Bret had the upper hand for large portions of the match.

DDP attempted to hit Bret with a steel chair in the closing stages but Bret pushed DDP into the referee. The Hitman cinched in the Sharpshooter but DDP connected with a Diamond Cutter to retain his title.

Co-winners of the 1994 Royal Rumble, The Total Package better known as Lex Luger and Bret Hart squared off at Halloween Havoc 1999. Neither man was at the peak of their powers, and it was a lackluster contest.

Their action spilled onto the outside, and Hart tried to wear him down with submission holds. However, The Total Package scored a huge win over Bret by forcing him to submit to the Half Boston Crab.
