Let's be honest: Cooking with fresh herbs is a luxury. Dried herbs simply don't offer the same level of flavor and color, and there's nothing like the smell of fresh basil and dill. Unless you live in a climate where it's warm year-round and you can grow your own herbs (or you're willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a smart indoor garden like the AeroGarden), getting your hands on fresh herbs in a cost effective way in the winter can be a challenge. While spending $1.50 on a bunch of parsley seems like a good deal, it's likely you'll only use a small amount on your weeknight dinner recipes before the rest goes bad. Luckily, TikTok has turned our attention to a clever Amazon solution that prolongs the shelf life of fresh herbs.

It's no secret that the social media app has become a source for life-changing cooking and cleaning hacks and genius products, and TikTok's newest obsession, the Prepara Herb Saver, is no exception. In a video that has been viewed nearly 3 million times, TikTok user @the_homeyhome demonstrated how they use the kitchen gadget, sharing that they found themself using it a lot more than they expected to because "it keeps herbs fresh for weeks."

According to Prepara, the herb saver triples the lifespan of fresh herbs with its refillable water reservoir. It recommends filling the kitchen tool every three to five days to keep herbs like basil, parsley, cilantro, thyme, dill, and more fresh for weeks. The slim design is a total space-saver and can easily sit next to your condiments in the door of your fridge. Plus, it's dishwasher-safe for hassle-free cleaning.

Not only has the herb saver gone viral on TikTok, but it also has nearly 1,000 five-star ratings on Amazon, where many shoppers praise its effectiveness at keeping herbs fresh. "I got a bunch of fresh parsley and it stayed super fresh and delicious in the refrigerator for over three weeks," one reviewer said, adding that they were able to use it up without wasting any of it. Another wrote, "We put some dill in before leaving on a week and a half vacation, and came back to still fresh dill."

If you're throwing out herbs faster than you can use them, head to Amazon to shop the TikTok-approved herb saver for $20
