PizzaForno, a vending machine that bakes artisanal pies in three minutes, has entered the New Orleans market.

The Canada-based company has announced three locations in the city: the University of New Orleans (Pontchartrain Hall South Dorm), LSU Medical Center and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The machine works like a 24/7 ATM. Customers pay with their debit or credit card, or Apple or Google Pay, select the pizza they want and wait around three minutes for it to cook. Or they can select an option that allows them to order a cold pizza and take it home to bake.

The pizzas are handmade in PizzaForno’s commissary, flash frozen in an IQF tunnel, loaded into the machines daily with a three-day shelf life and baked in a 750-degree fire oven. The pies are around 12 inches, sell for $12 – $13 each, and the choices range from pepperoni, BBQ chicken, honey & goat cheese, meat lovers, Hawaiian, four-cheese blend and vegetarian to dessert pizza. Each machine can hold up to 70 pizzas.

Master licensees Miller Engelhardt, Andrew Herrington and Robert Laurent are managing the local machines.

PizzaForno is in expansion mode, with 51 locations and over 100 additional ones committed in the U.S. The first 15 U.S. locations are in Michigan, Texas and Louisiana, according to pizzamarketplace.com.
